Our Founder: Dr Angela Hobart

Angela Hobart is a Southeast Asian specialist, scholar, human rights activist and founder of The Sutasoma Trust. She is an honorary professor at UCL and has taught at the British Museum.

Angela Hobart has written, edited and published a number of scholarly books including ‘Healing Performances of Bali: Between Darkness and Light,’ a gripping and outstanding ethnography about mediums, shamans and alternative healing practices in Bali, Indonesia. She has also written about the genocide in Indonesia and works as a psychotherapist with survivors of political cruelty and torture.
